Barn Owl Nest Interior Cam
OnlineThis infrared nest-box camera looks straight into the straw-lined chamber where a resident barn owl pair raises its brood in Emilia-Romagna. Run by Italy's M.C.B.I. project for barn owl conservation, this interior view captures quiet grooming pauses and exchanges between mates inside the nesting chamber, complementing the sister camera watching the entrance outside.

Inside the Nesting Chamber
This infrared camera is mounted inside a barn owl nest box on a concrete tower in Emilia-Romagna, part of Italy's M.C.B.I. (Monitoraggio e Conservazione del Barbagianni Italia) research network. Unlike its companion camera on the box's exterior, this interior view frames the straw-lined floor where the resident pair rests, incubates, and raises its brood.
The M.C.B.I. Conservation Project
Founded by a coalition of naturalists and researchers, M.C.B.I. installs nest boxes for the barn owl (Tyto alba) at sites across Italy, gathering ethological data to support the species' conservation nationwide without disturbing the birds.
Behavior Inside the Box
Watch the pair groom, rest, and tend to eggs or chicks tucked against the straw, often exchanging prey brought in through the entrance hole. The infrared sensor reveals every visit in fine detail, a vantage the exterior camera cannot offer.
Citizen Science in Real Time
