This webcam looks out over a quiet trackside clearing in the Jardim Florence neighborhood of Campinas, São Paulo, at the point where cargo trains rolling in from the interior begin their descent toward the coast. The location marks the start of the so-called Export Corridor, one of the busiest freight arteries feeding the Port of Santos.

Freight Giants in Motion

Expect long, heavy-haul consists hauling soybeans, sugar, grain, and containers behind powerful diesel locomotives from operators such as Rumo, VLI, and MRS Logística. The gentle curve of the double track and the open right-of-way give an unobstructed, trackside perspective rarely found this close to a Brazilian metropolitan area.

A Semi-Wild Urban Setting

Surrounding the rails, a tangle of self-seeded trees and grasses has reclaimed the old clearing, framing the tracks against the rooftops of Jardim Florence in the background. The contrast between the industrial rail corridor and the reclaimed green verge gives the scene its distinctive, unmistakably Campinas character.
