Trains Beside the Sea

This webcam looks out over Dawlish railway station, part of the Great Western Main Line that runs along the town's iconic sea wall. Passenger trains pass in full view, sandwiched between the platforms and the open water, in one of the most photographed stretches of railway in Britain.

The Sea Wall & Breakwater

Beyond the tracks, the sturdy Victorian sea wall and a stone breakwater push out into the English Channel, protecting the line from the open sea. The engineering that keeps this railway running along the shoreline has fascinated visitors for well over a century.

Below the camera, Marine Parade curves along the promenade with its shops, benches, and sea views, giving this classic Devon resort town its relaxed seaside character. The Dawlish shoreline remains one of the South West's most distinctive coastal panoramas.
