The Deutschherrnbrücke

The Deutschherrnbrücke is a historic steel railway bridge spanning the River Main between Frankfurt's Ostend and Sachsenhausen. First opened in the early twentieth century and rebuilt after wartime damage, its riveted steel structure carries regional, S-Bahn and freight services on the line skirting the eastern city centre.

The River Main and its banks

Below the bridge, the River Main curves through Frankfurt on its way to the Rhine. The camera looks across the tree-lined Deutschherrnufer, a popular riverside promenade where cyclists, joggers and strollers share the path beneath mature plane trees, while rowing boats and river barges pass on the water.
