Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Working Harbor on the North Sea
Small fishing cutters line the quays of Dornumersiel, a working tidal harbor built to serve the crabbing and shrimping fleets of the East Frisian coast. Because the basin drains with the outgoing tide, boats time their arrivals to the rhythm of the sea.
East Frisian Coastal Village
Set behind a protective dike, Dornumersiel is part of the municipality of Dornum and typifies the flat, big-sky landscape of Ostfriesland. A promenade along the harbor basin draws visitors to watch the boats and the ever-changing coastal light.
Gateway to the Wadden Sea
The harbor opens directly onto the Wadden Sea National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage tidal ecosystem of mudflats and channels. At low tide the flats stretch far offshore; at high tide the water returns to fill the harbor and refloat the fleet.
