The Fru Rauer Osprey Project

This camera belongs to the long-running osprey project of Østfold, documenting one of Norway's most-followed raptor nests. The bird known as Fru Rauer and her mate return each spring to raise their brood on the same platform, offering an intimate window into the life cycle of these fish-eating birds of prey.

A Nest on the Oslofjord

The nest sits atop the small island of Rauer, near Fredrikstad, with sweeping views across the calm waters of the Oslofjord. Low forested skerries and rocky shorelines frame the scene, a quintessentially Scandinavian coastal landscape.

Wildlife You Can Watch

Ospreys are expert anglers, plunging feet-first to snatch fish from the fjord before returning to feed their hungry chicks. The camera captures every arrival, feeding, and fledging milestone across the breeding season, a rare chance to follow a wild raptor family up close.

Conservation and Community

Maintained by volunteers, the stream supports osprey conservation and public awareness. Visitors are reminded to keep a respectful distance from the nest, protecting these sensitive birds during their vulnerable breeding period.
