A Castle Above the Gorge
Perched on a rocky outcrop high above the valley, Grodno Castle is one of the best-preserved medieval strongholds of Lower Silesia. From this elevated vantage the camera looks out over a landscape that has guarded the Bystrzyca river crossing for centuries, blending stone fortification with wild forest.
The Bystrzyckie Lake
At the bottom of the gorge lies the Bystrzyckie Lake, a reservoir formed by a historic dam that holds back the Bystrzyca river. Its narrow, fjord-like shape threads between the slopes, drawing kayakers, anglers and walkers to the water's edge throughout the warmer months.
The Owl Mountains
Surrounding the entire view are the Owl Mountains (Góry Sowie), a densely wooded range famed for its ancient gneiss bedrock, hiking trails and the mysterious wartime tunnels of Project Riese. The unbroken canopy of beech and spruce gives the panorama its deep, layered green.
Visiting the Region
The village of Zagórze Śląskie sits beside the lake and serves as the gateway to the castle and the surrounding nature. It is a popular escape for visitors seeking quiet water, forest walks and a genuine slice of Silesian history.
