Hildesheim Citybeach
OnlineThis live camera sits 90 metres up on Hildesheim's historic Rathaus, overlooking the Platz An der Lilie tucked just behind the town hall. Each summer the square is reborn as the Citybeach, spread with tonnes of fine white sand and furnished with lounge chairs, palms, and open-air beach bars.
Wooden sundecks, lantern-strung terraces, and cornhole courts turn this corner of the Altstadt into a relaxed summer retreat in the middle of the old town.

Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Square Behind the Historic Rathaus
The Platz An der Lilie lies beside Hildesheim's protected, centuries-old town hall, a short walk from the famous Marktplatz in the heart of the Altstadt. Framed by gabled facades and quiet side streets, it is one of the old town's most versatile public spaces.
The Annual Citybeach Transformation
For several weeks each summer, roughly 100 tonnes of sand are trucked in to turn the cobblestones into the Citybeach. Mediterranean plants, wooden decks, and rows of loungers surround a cluster of pop-up bars and kiosks, while visitors gather for cornhole, KanJam, and casual games on the sand.
A High Vantage Point
Mounted roughly 90 metres above the square and facing southeast, the camera delivers a sweeping, uninterrupted view across the entire Citybeach footprint, from the shaded lounge terraces to the solar-powered kiosks along its edge.
A Social Hub of the Old Town
Beyond its seasonal sand, the Platz An der Lilie functions as a year-round gathering spot in central Hildesheim, ringed by cafes and shops just steps from the Rathaus. Its transformation each summer has made it one of the city's most talked-about public spaces.
