A View from Luossavaara Hill
This camera is mounted at the clubhouse of a local ski and snowboard club atop Luossavaara, a hill on the edge of Kiruna in Swedish Lapland. From this elevated vantage point, the lens sweeps across the town's industrial heart toward the distant mountains.
The LKAB Iron-Ore Mine
Dominating the scene is the Kiirunavaara mine, operated by LKAB and known as one of the world's largest underground iron-ore mines. Waste-rock heaps and processing facilities spread across the valley floor beneath the camera.
Toward Kebnekaise
The panorama extends west toward Kebnekaise, Sweden's highest mountain, with wetlands and a lake threading through the foreground below the hill.
A Hub for Local Skiing
Luossavaara is also a modest, well-loved ski hill, home to a chairlift and slopes used by the local snowboard and ski club that operates this camera.
