The camera looks out over the Marktplatz, the cobbled market square that forms the historic core of Ratingen. Ringed by gabled facades and pavement cafés, it is the town's principal meeting point and the stage for its civic life.

Historic Architecture & Landmarks

Dominating the view is the medieval stone parish church of St. Peter und Paul, whose massive tower rises above the rooftops. Around it stand handsome townhouses and the Bürgerhaus, the community building that gives this corner of the square its name.

Market & Gathering Place

True to its name, the Marktplatz hosts open-air market stalls, café terraces and shading umbrellas where residents pause and shop. The broad pedestrian plaza is a natural gathering place for festivals, fairs and everyday town life.
