Parnas Fountain, Zelný Trh

A Market Square Since the Middle Ages

Known since medieval times as the Cabbage Market, Zelný trh has served as Brno's principal produce market for centuries and still hosts vendors selling fresh flowers, fruit, and vegetables from open-air stalls arranged around the sloping cobblestone plaza.

The Baroque Parnas Fountain

Dominating the center of the square is the Parnas Fountain, an elaborate Baroque sculpture completed in the late 17th century, its allegorical stone figures and grotto-like base making it one of the most photographed monuments in the city.

St. Peter and Paul Cathedral

Beyond the square's rooftops rise the twin Neo-Gothic spires of the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, a landmark visible from across Brno and a defining feature of the historic skyline framing this view.

The Heart of Brno's Old Town

Ringed by Renaissance and Baroque burgher houses in soft pastel facades, the square functions as an everyday crossroads for residents, with cafe terraces and passers-by keeping the scene continuously animated.
