The nest sits on a purpose-built platform atop a utility pole along the Salmon River, giving the resident osprey pair an unobstructed vantage over the water below. Built from sticks, driftwood, and grass, the structure is reinforced and repaired year after year, growing heavier each breeding season.

Life in the Lemhi Valley

The camera looks out over the Lemhi Valley near the town of Salmon, where the river's cold, fish-rich waters make it prime osprey hunting ground. Cottonwoods and open rangeland stretch toward the surrounding mountains, a landscape shared by elk, deer, and a wide range of raptors.

An Educational Partnership

The feed is part of the Salmon Outdoor Classroom, a program run by Idaho Fish and Game to bring the osprey's breeding cycle directly to students and the public. It offers an unedited window into courtship, incubation, and the raising of chicks, without interference from observers.
