Samford Hall Clock Tower

A Storied Campus Landmark

Samford Hall rose on the site of Auburn University's original Old Main building, rebuilt in Romanesque Revival style with warm red brick, arched windows, and a pair of distinctive towers crowning the roofline. It anchors the historic quad that forms the ceremonial heart of campus.

The Clock Tower

The taller of the two towers carries a working clock, long a fixture of student life and campus tradition. Its silhouette, framed by a slender steeple and weathervane, is instantly recognizable across Auburn and features on countless university seals and photographs.

Administrative Heart of the University

Samford Hall houses the president's office and other core administrative departments, making it the functional as well as symbolic center of the institution. Students and visitors regularly cross its manicured lawns on the way between classes.

The Wider Campus Setting

Beyond the hall, a canopy of mature oaks and connecting brick pathways lead toward the rest of the academic quad, with the downtown Auburn skyline forming a distant backdrop on the horizon.
