The Gateway to Tōhoku

Sendai Station is the largest rail hub in northeastern Japan, where the Tōhoku Shinkansen meets a web of conventional JR lines and the city subway. From this elevated vantage you can watch bullet trains glide in and out beside a constant flow of commuters.

The Pedestrian Deck

Sendai is famous for its sprawling pedestrian deck (pedeston), a raised walkway that links the station to surrounding department stores such as Parco and S-PAL. The camera captures this architectural signature of the city and the crowds that stream across it.
