A Sheltered Bay on the Vendée Coast

The Baie de Sion is a gently curving inlet along the Atlantic shoreline of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, part of the hamlet known as Sion-sur-l'Océan. Its sandy beach slopes softly into the water, forming one of the calmer stretches along this section of coast.

Anchored Boats and Coastal Life

A cluster of small fishing and pleasure boats rides at anchor just offshore, a familiar sight along this part of the Côte de Lumière. The wide, sheltered sand also draws walkers and families along the seafront.

A Rocky Point on the Horizon

To one side the shoreline rises into a low rocky headland, framing the bay and marking the edge of the beach, with the open Bay of Biscay stretching beyond.

A well-known seaside town in the Pays de la Loire, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez strings together several distinct beaches along its coastline. This camera offers a permanent window onto one of its quieter, more sheltered bays.
