A Kent Heritage Line

The Spa Valley Railway runs for five miles between Tunbridge Wells West and Groombridge, following a route once part of the historic Tunbridge Wells to East Grinstead line. Preserved almost entirely by volunteers, the railway keeps a slice of Victorian-era rail travel alive in the heart of the Kent and East Sussex countryside.

Steam and Diesel in Action

This camera looks out along the running line as it curves away from the platforms, giving a clear view of locomotives and rolling stock as they approach and depart. Both restored steam engines and vintage diesel units work the line on operating days, hauling carriages full of visitors through the wooded cutting.

A Volunteer-Run Survivor

Like many British heritage railways, the Spa Valley Railway survives thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers who maintain the track, signals, and rolling stock. Ongoing projects, including bridge renewal work along the line, keep the railway running for future generations of enthusiasts and families alike.
