A Key Union Pacific Corridor

This camera overlooks the Roseville Subdivision of the Union Pacific Railroad, positioned at Milepost 241 just west of the Sparks Rail Yard in northern Nevada. The line forms a critical link in the transcontinental network, connecting the Sierra Nevada mountain crossing with the high-desert basin around Reno and Sparks.

Freight Traffic in Motion

Long intermodal and manifest freight trains pass through this stretch daily, hauled by Union Pacific locomotives working the grade between the yard and the mountain approach. Railfans can watch consists of double-stack containers, tank cars, and mixed freight rumble past this trackside vantage point.

The Reno-Sparks Rail Landscape
