A Mountain Balcony Above Poiana Brașov

Yager Chalet sits on the wooded slopes of the Postăvarul Massif, one of the peaks framing the mountain resort of Poiana Brașov in Romania's Carpathians. From this vantage point the camera surveys a sweeping alpine panorama that stretches from the near tree line to the rooftops of Brașov far below.

The Cable Car and the Reservoir

The resort's gondola lift passes directly in front of the chalet, its red cabins carrying visitors up toward the higher stations of the ski area. Just downhill, a large circular reservoir holds water for the snowmaking system that keeps the surrounding slopes covered through the season.

Forest, Meadow and Valley

Dense stands of spruce and fir cover the mountainside around the chalet, giving way to open alpine meadow near the water's edge. Beyond the ridgeline, the Bârsa valley opens out, with the city of Brașov visible in the distance against the backdrop of the Carpathian foothills.
