A Wild Golden Eagle Eyrie

This camera looks directly into the massive stick nest of a wild Golden Eagle pair (Aquila chrysaetos), one of the largest and most powerful raptors in the Northern Hemisphere. Built high in a mature conifer, the eyrie has fledged young in several past seasons and is reused and rebuilt by the same territorial adults.

Inside an Estonian Boreal Forest

The nest sits deep within a remote stretch of boreal woodland, surrounded by tall pines and spruces typical of the region. This undisturbed mosaic of forest and clearing provides the open hunting grounds and seclusion that breeding Golden Eagles require.

Conservation and Research

The feed is part of an Estonian conservation project that studies how the breeding pair reacts to noise disturbance from an adjacent training area. Volunteers worldwide log observations, contributing real data on the welfare of this protected species.
