The Meerkat Enclosure
Since 2023 the Mundenhof has been home to a colony of meerkats (Erdmännchen), who share a large, naturalistic habitat with the park's ostriches. The enclosure was designed to be species-appropriate, offering the animals plenty of room to burrow, forage and keep watch.
A Free Animal & Nature Park
Spread across 38 hectares on the western edge of Freiburg im Breisgau, the Mundenhof is an animal and nature adventure park with free admission, open around the clock. It shelters a remarkable variety of domestic and exotic species — from sheep, goats and camels to gibbons and macaques.
What You Will Observe
Meerkats are famously cooperative: while some dig and explore, others take turns standing upright as lookouts. The live view captures this constant, engaging activity within a natural setting of grass, stone and driftwood.
