About This Webcam
Everything you need to know about this live stream
A Wide-Angle View of the Whole Platform
Unlike the network's dedicated perch camera, this pan-tilt-zoom unit is free to sweep across the full 24-foot nesting tower, capturing the entire nest bowl along with the surrounding marsh grass and the brackish canal beneath it.
Frederick and Betsy
The tower is home to a resident breeding pair the operators call Frederick and Betsy. Ospreys are fish-eating raptors that mate for life and return to the same platform year after year, so the same pair's comings and goings anchor the view across seasons.
Guarding a Remote Corner of the Outer Banks
The platform stands beside a brackish water canal on the road-less northern reaches of Carova Beach, within reach of both Knotts Island Bay and the open Atlantic Ocean โ a rich, undeveloped feeding ground that keeps the resident ospreys returning.
