A Monument to the Pioneers

The bronze Troika sculpture captures a coachman driving three horses at full gallop, a composition raised to mark the 50th anniversary of diamond mining in the Sakha Republic. It is dedicated to the veteran haulers and drivers who once moved cargo across roadless northern terrain to supply the young diamond towns of Yakutia.

The Embankment Plaza

The monument sits at the heart of a landscaped riverside square, its radiating stone paths, flowerbeds and benches forming a favorite gathering spot for residents of Lensk. A low balustrade separates the plaza from the flood-defence promenade that runs along the water's edge.

The Lena River Beyond

Past the plaza, the view opens onto the Lena River, one of the great waterways of Siberia, with cargo vessels occasionally tracing the far channel and taiga-clad hills rising along the opposite bank.

A Siberian River Port

Lensk itself is a remote river port in the Sakha Republic, a transhipment hub linking road and river traffic toward the diamond fields of western Yakutia, and this plaza is one of its most recognisable civic landmarks.
